Q.4. What did Penelop Eckert find about the linguistic features associated with the two Belton High school groups : the jocks and the burnouts? (p.107:jocks take part in school activities and like school// burnouts are the opposite.)

What were his findings? (p.113:different forms in different contexts//to show resistance//as a form of figurative language without claiming the identity of the other language//)
Q.8. What is the difference between situational codeswitching and figurative codeswitching? (p.136: in the situational one, shift is to a higher variety or vice versa reflecting shift in formality or social relation; but in the figurative one, the other speech variety is harder to use and continue the interaction which is somehow similar to language crossing.)
Q.9. What is meant by Bakhtin’s term : double-voicing?
(p.137: utterances can be affected by competing languages, discourses and voices, whether being uni-directional double voicing (both mixing to the degree of almost becoming one), or vari-directional double voicing: remaining different and opposed to each other.)
Q.10. What is figurative code-switching? How is it related to ****phorical and ironic switching?
(p.138: Leech: figurative meaning is complementary to literal meaning related to uni-directional double voicing when using bilingual languages//but in irony, figurative meaning is opposed to literal meaning related to vari-directional double voicing.)
