افتراضي a woman at the airport

a woman at the airport

One night there was a woman at the airport who had to wait
for several hours before catching her next flight. While she waited she bought a book and a pack of biscuits to spend the time. She looked for a place to sit and waited. She was deep into her book, when suddenly she realized that there was a young man sitting next to her who was stretching his hand, with no concern whatsoever, and grabbing the pack of c.o.o.k.i.e.s lying between them. He started to eat them one by one. Not wanting to make a fuss about it she decided to ignore him. The woman, slightly bothered, ate the c.o.o.k.i.e.s and watched the clock, while the young and shameless thief of biscuits was also finishing them.

The woman started to get really angry at this point and thought "If I wasn't such a good and educated person, I would have given this daring man a black eye by now." Every time she ate a biscuit, he had one too. The dialogue between their eyes continued and when only one biscuit was left, she wondered what he was going to do.

Softly and with a nervous smile, the young man grabbed the last biscuit and broke it in two. He offered one half to the woman while he ate the other half. Briskly she took the biscuit and thought, "What an insolent man! How uneducated! He didn't even thank me!" She had never met anybody so fresh and sighed relieved to hear her flight announced.

She grabbed her bags and went towards the boarding gate refusing to look back to where that insolent thief was seated. After boarding the plane and nicely seated, she looked for her book which was nearly finished by now. While looking into her bag she was totally surprised to find her pack of biscuits nearly intact. If my biscuits are here, she thought feeling terribly, those others were his and he tried to share them with me. Too late to apologize to the young man, she realized with pain, that it was her who had been insolent, uneducated and a thief, and not him.

How many times in our lives, had we known with certainty that something happened in a certain way, only to discover later that it wasn't true? How many times has our lack of trust within us made us judge other people unfairly with our conceited ideas, often far away from reality. That is why we have to think twice before we judge others. Let's always give others the benefit of the doubt before we think badly of them

افتراضي a boy who was always losing his temper

There was a boy who was always losing his temper. His father gave him a bag full of nails and said to him, “My son, I want you to hammer a nail into our garden fence every time you need to direct your anger against something and you lose your temper.”

So the son started to follow his father’s advice. On the first day he hammered in 37 nails, but getting the nails into the fence was not easy, so he started trying to control himself when he got angry. As the days went by, he was hammering in less nails, and within weeks he was able to control himself and was able to refrain from getting angry and from hammering nails. He came to his father and told him what he had achieved. His father was happy with his efforts and said to him: “But now, my son, you have to take out a nail for every day that you do not get angry.”

The son started to take out the nails for each day that he did not get angry, until there were no nails left in the fence.

He came to his father and told him what he had achieved. His father took him to the fence and said, “My son, you have done well, but look at these holes in the fence. This fence will never be the same again.” Then he added: “When you say things in a state of anger, they leave marks like these holes on the hearts of others. You can stab a person and withdraw the knife but it doesn’t matter how many times you say ‘I’m sorry,’ because the wound will remain

افتراضي Mongoose is a fatal enemy of the cobra

Mongoose is a fatal enemy of the cobra...

We have the poison in us, and its remedy:

A legend says that a Hindu family welcomed under its roof a mongoose. It was appreciated by all the family and shared meals with the children, played with them the day and slept in their arms in the evening. A heatwave came, and its hunger and thirst. The host of the house put his baby at the shelter under a tree. One day she was doing the housework, she saw the mongoose scampering to his bowl of water, full of dust and traces of blood on his mouth. "Horror! My baby! "she said. She took a heavy pestle rice and strike a violent blow on the beast which spin and fell dead. Screaming to despair, she rushed to the tree where she left the baby, and ... shocked! The baby was there, smiling at her mother and on the turf, lying killed, a cobra. She realized she killed the savior of the baby...
We are inequitable to ourselves

افتراضي Love, Wealth and Success

Love, Wealth and Success

A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat." "Is the man of the house home?", they asked. "No", she said. "He's out." "Then we cannot come in", they replied. In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened. "Go tell them I am home and invite them in!" The woman went out and invited the men in. "We do not go into a House together," they replied. "Why is that?" she wanted to know. One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, "He is Success, and I am Love." Then he added, "Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home." The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. "How nice!!", he said. "Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!" His wife disagreed. "My dear, why don't we invite Success?" Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: "Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!" "Let us heed our daughter-in-law's advice," said the husband to his wife. "Go out and invite Love to be our guest." The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest." Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: "I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?" The old men replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success!!!!!!"

افتراضي the stool

The stool

Many students was studying with the Zen master Sengaï. One of them used to get up in the evening, to climb the wall and disappear in town for a night of fun. Sengaï, who inspected the dormitories, an evening noticed the absence of a pupil, and he also discovered the stool he used to climb over the wall. Sengaï stripped of the stool and sat on its location. When the young drifter returned without knowing that the stool was the master, he put his foot on the head of him and jumped ashore.
When he discovered what he had done, he became livid. Sangaï said: "It is very cold in the early morning. Take care not to get sick. "
the student would then never go out at night.

افتراضي a lion in a zoo

a lion in a zoo

In a poor zoo of India, a lion was frustrated as he was offered not more than 1 kg of meat a day.
The lion thought its prayers were answered. When one day a Dubai Zoo Managervisited the zoo and requested the zoo management to shift thelion to Dubai Zoo.
The lion was so happy and started thinking of a central A/C environment, a goat or two every day.
On its first day after arrival, the lion was offered a big bag, sealed very nicely for breakfast. The lion opened it quickly but was shocked to see that it contained few bananas. The lion thought that may be they cared too much for him as they were worried about his stomach as he had recently shifted from India .
The next day the same thing happened. On the third day again the same foodbag of bananas was delivered.
The lion was so furious; it stopped the delivery boy and blasted at him,'don't you know I am the lion...king of the Jungle..., what's wrong with your management? What nonsense is this? Why are you delivering bananas to me?
The delivery boy politely said, 'Sir, I know you are the king of the jungle ... but... you have been brought here on a monkey's visa !!! '

Moral of the Story .... Better to be a Lion in your own country than a Monkey elsewhere

افتراضي رد: AOUA's encyclopedia for the short english stories

the blinde boy

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help." There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were u the one who changed my sign this morning? What did u write?"

The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what u said but in a different way."
What he had written was: "Today is a beautiful day & I cannot see it."

Do u think the first sign & the second sign were saying the same thing? Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story:

Be thankful for what you have.

Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

افتراضي Gold box

GOLD BOX

----------------------

The story goes that a man punished his 3-year-old son
for wasting a roll of expensive gold wrapping paper.

Money was tight and he became even more upset when the child pasted the
gold paper so as to decorate a box to put under the Christmas tree.

Nevertheless, the little boy brought the gift box to his father the
next morning and said, "This is for you, Daddy."

The father was embarrassed by his earlier overreaction, but his anger
flared again when he found the box was empty. He spoke to him in a
harsh manner, "Don't you know, young man, when you give someone a present
there's supposed to be something inside the package?"

The little boy looked up at him with tears in his eyes and said, "Oh,
Daddy, it's not empty. I blew kisses into it until it was full."

The father was crushed. He fell on his knees and put his arms around
his little boy, and he begged him to forgive him for his unnecessary anger.

An accident took the life of the child only a short time later and it
is told that the father kept that gold box by his bed for all the years of
his life. And whenever he was discouraged or faced difficult problems
he would open the box and take out an imaginary kiss and remember the love
of the child who had put it there.

------
ps. In a very real sense, each of us as human beings have been given a
golden box filled with unconditional love and kisses from our children,
family, friends and God. There is no more precious possession anyone could
hold.

Family and friends are like angels who lift us to our feet when our
wings have trouble remembering how to fly.

افتراضي a flower and a butterfly

a flower and a butterfly

once there was a man who asked god for a flower and a butterfly

but instead, god gave him a cactus and a caterpillar

the man was sad, he didn't understand why his request was mistaken,
then he thought: oh well, god has too many people to care for...

and decided not to question.

after sometime, the man went to check up on his request that he had left forgotten

to his surprise, from the thorny & ugly cactus a beautiful flower had grown, and the unsightly caterpillar had been transformed into the most beautiful butterfly.

moral of the story
God always does things right!!!!

his way is always the best way, even if to us it seems all wrong.
if you asked god for one thing & received another, TRUST.

you can be sure that he'll always give you what you need at the appropriate time.

god gives the very best to those who leave the choices up to him!

GOD BLESS YOU.

افتراضي Leaded by a donkey

Leaded by a donkey

Nasr Eddin was riding home from the bazaar daydreaming of the pulao he would have for his supper. With his thoughts full of the saffroned rice, juicy meat and fried oinions, he did not pay much attention to the route his donkey was taking home. His dayderam was finally broken when the donkey lurched to a half outside a house. "Come wife ! I have all the ingredients for your best pulao", Nasr Eddin called his wife. But the woman he saw before him when he eventually looked up was a complete stranger. Realising that it was not only the wrong wife, but the wrong house and even the wrong village, the Mullah looked at his donkey severely: "If you had told me that you wish to move here, I would perhaps have considered it, but I will not stand for deceit !"

افتراضي The ignorance of the hermit

The ignorance of the hermit

A trader had a brother who had withdrawn from the world to pray God during numerous years, in the most total destitution of the hermit. One day, the trader saw the hermit arriving at his shop astride on a lion. All the passers-by deviated terrified whereas the hermit says to his brother:
-"O my brother, don't be afraid, this lion is soft as the lamb." The trader, delighted to see again his brother after so many years, asked him for what he had made, lonely, in the desert during all this time.
-"I prayed God", says the hermit, "and this one presented me with some presents. Like this, looks this jar, it contains water, isn't it?"
-"Yes", says the trader.
-"Taste the water, brother. "
The trader enjoyed the water and found that it was wine.
-"It is wine, brother."
-"yes", says the hermit, "you see the miracles of which I am capable."
-"Brother, I am sorry to ask you for it, but I have to go away of the shop one minute. Can you keep the workshop and inform the ******ers if he comes here, before my return?" The hermit was bothered and said:
-"My brother, do you believe that I would know how to do?"
-"Yes, I come back in one second." Once the brother left him, a young beautiful lady stopped in front of the workshop to buy some material. She addressed to the hermit in her beautiful crystalline voice:
-"My friend, could you advise me?" The hermit didn't answer, became red and panicked. He knocked down the jar of wine which broke on the ground and discovering water, and the lion, wisely sleeping in its feet, jumped and devoured him.
