Raising finance through the SE can be a costly process: involves specialists: lawyers, bankers..

A huge amount of management time is usually required which can result in missed business opportunities.
The regulatory burden placed on listed business. Once a business is listed there are continuing requirements to be met covering issues such as:
Disclosure of financial information
Informing shareholders of significant developments
The right of shareholders and lenders
The obligations of directors
