Cities play an important role in our life, and its importance enters in a lot of fields in
social life. Cities are the most important element and source of shaping identities. Identities are connected to a particular place, by a feeling that we belong to that place. Cities help the individuals to identify themselves and help them to know what the difference between them and other people from other cities. On the other hand, cities can be also a source of confusion and they can create multiple identities for one person. So, cities are a source of both collective and individual identities. For example, when some asked his friend “where do you come from?”, and when his friend answered “I am British but I come from India”, or “I come from Aberdeen and I am Scottish”, this thing can create a source of uncertainty and diversity in one society. By this way, we can note that cities are characterized by uniformity and diversity, intimacy and alienation. One might think of cities as increasingly centers of exchanging of information, knowledge, images, and symbols. Also, other might see cities as a source of leisure, social services, and cultural activities. In other words, today cities constitute a mix of people, cultural and social life, and a lot of important functions such as; trade, investments, education, and health care. According to Saskia Sassen, there is a strong relation between cities and globalization phenomenon. He argues that the key function of global cities is the spatial dispersal and global integration of economic activity
